DOWN TO THE RIVER

Love the way oyster shells reflect the shimmering ripples. Can you believe it's March?
"A light exists in Spring
Not present in the year
At any other period
When March is scarcely here."
Emily Dickinson

The Sun Sets On 2011

A late afternoon walk down to the river, to watch the sun set on 2011...

"Then sing, young hearts that are full of cheer.
With never a thought of sorrow;
The old goes out, but the glad young year
Comes merrily in tomorrow."
Emily Miller
Wishing all good things for you and yours in the coming year. XO.

Saturday Sunset

Busy days, preparing for the feast, but had to share this evening's glorious sunset...
Hope you're enjoying a flaming red sunset wherever you are! XO

Down to the River

Took a quick walk down to the river with Nigel this evening. We're rapidly running out of daylight for after dinner walks. Disturbed the geese who were already settling in for the night...
they rose up noisily, but didn't go far, just down the bank and into the river.
Nigel was mesmerized...
A little wading and a sniff around the rushes...

and time to head for home with the geese already settling in behind us.

Sweet dreams!

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

It was a beautiful day for riding and playing in the river...

A sparkling clear day.

Following Eliza and Mack.

Zoey, checking out the driftwood.

The view from Zoey.

Zoey and me.

Eliza and Mack.
Lest you think the day too perfect, Zoey did a 360 degree spook on the way back to the barn, very nearly dumping me in the neighbor's front yard. Nevertheless, I feel blessed for having this sparkling clear fall day, and a friend to ride with. I'll feel even more blessed if I can figure out how to get that amazing piece of driftwood home and in my garden.

River Birds

Went down  to the fishing bridge this AM hoping to get some good shots of the morning sky.  Too cloudy, but these guys were happy to pose...
