MAY DAY

This big iris bloom was the first thing I saw when I stepped outside this morning, a May Day gift from Mother Nature. How did she know they're my favorite?
Spied these white ones growing wild in the woods, on Sunday's bike ride to Hooper's Island.

"When April steps aside for May,
Like diamonds all the rain-drops glisten;
Fresh violets open every day;
To some new bud each hour we listen."
Lucy Larcom
1824-1893
Two days of rain have given way to brilliant sunshine, so I'm off to mow. Hope someone leaves a May Basket at your door today. Happy May Day dear blog friends!
XO.
