HAPPY WEDNESDAY

Happy Wednesday all. Hope you had a great Easter weekend. While our son couldn't make it, our sweet girl was here for two days. We managed to cram a lot of fun into those two days, riding, racquetball, Easter dinner with the family, and some work on the lunge line for Abby.
The white deer has begun to hang around like a stray dog, despite so many neighbors being outdoors this weekend. Took this shot on Sunday...
Met the ladies for a ride at noon today, and while I'm usually very excited to see the deer, Zoey has come to believe that she eats horses, sooooooooo the ride was a bit more exciting than I would like. The doe was very much, out and about.  Did manage to take the ladies around our, just completed, woods trail. Thank you Mr. C.! We sang our "shoo deer" song as we went, just in case.
Worked on several small canvasses today. Completed this little pear.
4x4" mixed-media, acrylic, vintage papers, Pitt pen, charcoal
Love to stay and chat, but manure calls. Then I'm making a Chicken Hash Salad for dinner. I'll wash my hands. Promise.

THROWING FEAR TO THE WIND

Thanks, Linda Kinnaman for devising a ceremony to help your fellow artists release the fears that are holding them back. Today was the day to write our fears on a piece of paper and release them into the March wind. No wind? Burning the paper was also an option.
Me? I went to the river, but not really wanting to throw a piece of paper in, I wrote my "fear" on a clam shell. Clam shells, being only so big, I opted not to spell my fears out specifically, but they know who they are!
Since Nigel was with me, I decided to toss "fear of vacuum cleaner" in on his behalf. We'll see what happens. Any excuse to be outside in this glorious spring weather.
On the way home, we noted the first dandelions...
In another month or so they'll be taking over the neighborhood. Must learn to make Dandelion wine!
As it's almost St. Patrick's Day, Nigel paused to look for a four-leaf clover...
And then, YIPPEE! The PIEBALD deer is back!

See her buddy on the right?
Hope your day included a nice surprise and that you'll think about tossing your fears to the wind (or in the river).

Piebald Deer

While I was doing barn chores yesterday, I noticed Zoey staring intently at the field across the street. I could tell by the way she was standing that she must see something out of the ordinary, and hoped it was a reappearance of the piebald deer. We spotted her frequently in the early spring, but only saw her once over the summer. Well, that's exactly what it was... a mad dash to the house for my camera, hoping she would stay around and managed to get a couple of pictures...

Lovely!

A piebald deer is a genetic variation that occurs in less than 1% of the white-tailed deer population. Glad to have her around. Planning to keep my camera close for the next few days in hopes of getting a better shot.
More excitement when I turned Zoey out early this AM. This time, however, it was 2 runaway goats from the Curtis farm down the street. They were headed for the highway, so I grabbed a couple of carrots and lead ropes and ran after them. Nothing like a bit of goat wrangling before breakfast!
