Wednesday: Random Stitchy Stuff (Every Needle Tells a Story)

In a push to get ready for the holidays, and finally stock my etsy shop, I am doing a major studio cleanup. Here is a small sampling of needlework that I am sorting and finishing...

Spring had awakened a longing for adventure which she hoped was real, and not a false  sense of bravado brought on by a new dress and the seductive qualities of polka dots...

She would not see the molehills...only mountains.

In the interest of full disclosure...I attempted this same cleanup last holiday season, and never quite got there.
Hope your workspace is neat and tidy!

Day After Thanksgiving

Out to feed the horses while the mist still clings to the pond...

and back inside for my favorite part of a holiday meal, the leftover Angel Biscuits, sliced open and broiled with cheese. Heaven!

Hope you had friends and family gathered round your Thanksgiving table with a good dog or two beneath.  Hope your turkey was tender and your pie crust flaky. Happy Thanksgiving!!

What I Made On Wednesday

This little quilt is dedicated to the "Fly Tribe," a very talented group of artists who offer support and encouragement everyday. The first in a series of "what if's" dedicated to this amazingly supportive clan of women...

Hope your Wednesday was amazing, or at least pretty good.

The Waterfowl Festival

This was waterfowl weekend in Easton. The 40th Annual Waterfowl Festival, a wildlife art, and sportsman's expo, held the second weekend in November.

Warning #1. If you're not a dog person, you might want to scroll through quickly. My camera seems to automatically focus on dogs. Try as I might to broaden my photographic horizons, if there are plenty of dogs around, I will come home with mostly dog pictures. It's beyond my control.  Warning #2, if you are a dog lover, there's a picture of a chocolate lab puppy coming up, that will make you want to lick your screen! So, here's my dog loving view of the Waterfowl Festival.
Let's start with the ever-popular Delmarva Dock Dogs competition...where I learned that taking pictures of dogs in flight, takes a little practice...

There! That's better...

There were adoptable dogs also...

I have to say, Talbot County is a great fall getaway any weekend. Seriously, people come from Baltimore and Washington to eat in our restaurants. For more info about the festival, click here, Waterfowl Festival.
Hope your weekend was at least fun, if not actually, "festive."

What I'm Making Today...

Making today...8" x 11" art quilt. Materials: recycled linen napkins, pearl cotton, Pitt pen, fusible webbing, vintage buttons, embroidery floss, etc...

Trying to decide whether to bind it in the black/white polka dot, or go for something a bit more colorful. Anyone...?

Pizza! Pizza!

Had a different post planned for today, but I went for a trail ride and when I came back, Mr. C. had made this...
His very own recipe for Turkey Sub Pizza. Add a glass (okay, two) of red wine and I am feeling blessed.

Wednesday

Went outside to wait for the farrier this afternoon. Took my camera hoping to get a few shots of the last remaining blooms, and the animals. Surprised by the number of bees and blossoms this late in the season.
We did have our first heavy frost this week...

Had way too much help from the dogs, who only seem to want to be in the shot, when you're trying to photograph something else...

Thought I'd have a try with the horses, but you can only get a decent shot when you catch them unaware...
otherwise you get something like this...
because they are really monkeys in horse suits!
Indoors, continued to work my way through the "Flying  Lessons" blog hop (see Tuesday's post), and made apple squares for my therapeutic riding group...
Now I'm off to Timber Grove Farm for therapeutic riding. Hope you have something warm and appley to eat at your house!

It's Blog Hop Day!

Welcome to the "Spreading Our Wings" blog hop. Participants completed the Kelly Rae Roberts e-course, "Flying Lessons" over the summer, and have continued to support and encourage one another through a private Facebook group. Each participating artist has created a post inspired by the course or the group. We are all posting today and including a blog roll of participating artists, so that we may visit and comment on each others postings. Sounds like fun, right?
So, without further ado...

My piece is a thank-you to Kelly Rae without whose advice to "just make a start," I would not be five weeks into my blog already (I know!). And also a great big thank-you to the Flying Lessons Facebook group who welcomed me with open arms when I finally got the courage to participate, and offered some really helpful and encouraging words about the blog.

Don't stop now. Keep hopping!
